Noir-styled anthropormorphic animal mystery aboard a luxury liner coming to PC and Switch in summer 2024

The Orient Express has gotten a lot of mileage out of a very famous fictional homicide, but trains aren't the only modes of transportation where cold-blooded crimes can occur. Case in point: the upcoming anthropomorphic animal mystery, M.S. Salmon, by indie German developer SoybloQ.

Other than being a bird, Ben Hearnden is your prototypical noir-styled gumshoe whose office is appropriately cluttered with "cigarettes, half a bottle of gin, and scattered documents." It's the late 1960s when Ben and his partner Ranieri find themselves tasked with solving a mysterious murder aboard a brand new luxury ship, the titular M.S. Salmon. Success will depend on attentive detective work and wise choices, but the stakes become personal the closer Ben gets to the the truth by confronting him with his own "dark past." There's no time to waste, though, as the ship will reach port in just 72 hours, so you'll need to identify the culprit before you reach land and the killer has the chance to escape.

M.S. Salmon is a noir-styled, black-and-white cartoon adventure that will see you "dive into gripping dialogues, question witnesses and suspects, interact with your surroundings, and gather evidence to find the killer." The point-and-click mechanics are fairly traditional, with inventory to collect and "small puzzles" to solve, but you can also expect a number of "action-based Quick Time Events and eventful mini-games" to overcome along the way, just a couple of which are on display in the initial (German) teaser unveiled.

No firm target release date has yet been announced, but the M.S. Salmon is due to dock on Steam for Windows, Mac and Linux sometime in the third quarter of 2024, with a Nintendo Switch version planned as well.
