Sequel to 2016 comic adventure Detective Hayseed: Hollywood available now for Windows and Mac

Detective Hayseed isn't quite the household name in most places around the world as he is in his native Czech Republic (albeit known there through seven games as Pankrác), but perhaps that's starting to change. Following the investigator's localized debut in 2016 in Detective Hayseed: Hollywood, the titular protagonist is all set to launch his second English-language adventure in the newly released The Cloning Madness.

After having foiled criminals intent on upending order in Tinseltown by stealing the list of Oscar winners, Francis Hayseed now finds himself in a brand new location with an equally implausible mystery to solve. This time he's called to the town of Monroe, the renowned birthplace of human cloning. The discovery of this technology has been a boon for the entire town, but particularly the company DNA Revolution, which has made a fortune creating and selling "cloned celebrities and personalities all over the world." On the eve of the town's cloned beauty pageant, however, someone kidnaps one of the contestants, and it's up to Hayseed go through "countless escapades" in his search to find her and bring the perpetrators to justice.

As with its predecessor, The Cloning Madness is a colourfully hand-drawn cartoon adventure. Now fully dubbed in English, the original Czech game's graphics have also been remastered here for widescreen 4K resolution. The gameplay is classic point-and-click, with over 50 screens to explore, hundreds of items to collect, and many unusual characters to meet – or their clones anyway, including "notorious military leaders, world-famous band members, well-known politicians, science experts, and hardcore mafia members." There will be plenty of puzzles to solve in a madcap story "full of comedy and twists" as you begin to unravel a "conspiracy of huge proportions." Even with an in-game hint system to help you out if you're stuck, the game should provide a substantial 8-10 hours of play time.

If you're up for some zany comic sleuthing, you can get started right away, as Detective Hayseed: The Cloning Madness is now available on Steam for Windows and Mac.
